INSULATION REPAIR

Dead rodents decompose quickly, leading to unpleasant odors that can permeate the house.  Decomposing rodents can release airborne particles that might cause respiratory issues. Hantavirus, salmonella, and other pathogens are frequently carried by rodents and  transmitted to humans through inhalation of dust or ingestion of food contaminated with rodent droppings, urine, or saliva.

Rodents often tunnel through and shred insulation materials, creating nests. This disturbs the insulation, compressing loose-fill insulation, reducing its R-value.  Rodents also leave behind urine and feces, contaminating the insulation. This not only poses health risks but also reduces the insulating properties.

Rats, squirrels, racoons, skunks, and possums often invade crawl spaces through a small opening in a foundation vent. They not only shred insulation materials, but also leave behind urine and feces, contaminating the area. Often they will birth their offspring in crawl spaces creating an even more drastic and foul smelling situation.

Rodent damage to ductwork can lead to several problems, including reduced HVAC efficiency, poor indoor air quality, and potential health risks.  Small holes or gaps require metal tape or mastic sealant to patch the damage. Severely damaged sections of ductwork may need to be replaced entirely. Flexible ducts are often more susceptible to damage and may need complete replacement. 

Rodent damage to electrical wiring is a serious issue that can lead to various problems, including electrical malfunctions, fire hazards, and costly repairs. We see this often and will document the damage for you to file an insurance claim. Wiring damage requires a licensed electrician to assess the situation and perform the repairs.

Water damage in a crawl space can lead to serious issues, including mold growth, structural damage, and poor indoor air quality. Typically the mold infiltrates floor insulation and fungus growth can lead to dry rot of wood flooring, joists, and support beams.
